“My only means of self defense is to wiggle my eye and feign being a salamander”

“Salamander Crossing” really stood out to me. It was right up my salamander alley.

“Relish the White Hut Experience”

#15: Go to the one of the restaurants in Massachusetts I need to go to before I die (http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/massachusetts/restaurants-die-ma/) Happy Summer everyone! I’ve been slacking a bit on my list this year. Usually at this point in the summer I’ve done a few things. School ended for me on Tuesday, yesterday was reserved for sleeping, so […]

“She was Very Short, Although not in Spirit”

I live on a dead end street in a small town (now a city, but no one really calls it that) in Massachusetts called Easthampton. I’ve lived in the same house in the same street my whole life (minus a few months I lived in the neighboring city of Northampton). At the end of my street, there’s a stoplight and beyond the stoplight is a small park consisting of three picnic tables, a spigot, and some old cinderblocks for a fire. It’s right on the side of Route 10 (see last post), and kind of sticks out since it’s in a busy area/intersection. I hardly ever see people there and if I do it’s someone alone and on a lunch break.
The park has a little sign that reads:

Katherine Root Wayside Park

For a while now I’ve been wondering who Katherine Root was/is. I turned to the infamous “You Know You’re from Easthampton When….” Facebook page and posted this, knowing I’d get some answers:

#31: Learn every routine off R2-13 As some of my readers might know, one of my many mini-part time jobs is a Jazzercise instructor (read my first post about Jazzercise right here). I’ve been teaching Jazzercise for a little over two years and I love it for many reasons, one of which is that is never […]

“Never give up and good luck will find you”

#6: Do the Never Ending Story drinking game with Lauren Don’t ask me why, but one day I mentioned the movie The NeverEnding Story to my good friend Lauren, probably talking about how much I loved it as a child in a scary kind of way. I had/have it on VHS and remember watching it when […]

“Once you get to the party in your white trash garb, have fun”

#26: Make a Greasy and Ugly video I guess the way to start this blog is to describe what a “Greasy and Ugly video” is. Greasy and Ugly, or as it’s known in the YouTube world, greasyANDugly, is Mary and I’s YouTube channel. Starting August 23, 2008, Mary and I have been YouTube L-listers; not quite […]

“Taking it to the streets”

#13: Eat at the Bistro Bus One of my dear friends, Betsy, started a new business this year after having a catering business for 25 years. She started Bistro Bus to put these years of great cookin’ “to the streets” of the Pioneer Valley. As soon as she opened up, I knew I had to […]
